A high ranking Ukrainian official claims Russia crossed the southeastern border with tanks and armored vehicles. The Russians reportedly crossed an area away from where the most intense fighting between Ukrainian and pro-Russian soldiers has taken place. According to Col. Andriy Lysenko, a spokesman for Ukraine's National Security Counsel, Russians moved 10 tanks, two armored vehicles and two trucks across the border near Shcherbak.

Last Friday, a large convoy of Russian vehicles entered Ukraine to deliver "humanitarian supplies" to Russian speaking Ukrainians close to the Russian border. Ukraine denounced the move as a "direct invasion" and claimed Russia was using the humanitarian convoy as a guise to supply weapons to pro-Russian rebels. Russia has since announced its' intention of moving another aid convoy into the Donetsk region to supply locals with basic necessities.

Is Russia attempted to set up another rebel stronghold in eastern Ukraine or are their motives simply humanitarian in nature?
