Phoenix, which certainly not known for heavy rainfall, experienced historic flooding as over 3 inches of rain drenched the area, breaking a 70 year old record. Officials have reported widespread damage, a death, and were forced to rescue several individuals.
Emergency crews remained extremely busy cleaning up the mess and ensuring the safety of citizens Monday afternoon. The crews performed over a dozen rescues and helped businesses clean up. Over 100 homeowners have been forced from their homes. At least two mudslides occurred along valley roads in the Phoenix area. Emergency responders plan on working "around the clock" until the area can recover.
Flooding in the area has reportedly ranged from one inch up to five feet.
