What he thought was an amazing discovery turned out to cost him his job at a public university in California. Mark Armitage, a Creationist Scientist, made an incredible discovery on an archeological dig at the Hell Creek Formation in Montana back in 2012. After unearthing a triceratops horn and placing it under high-powered microscope for further evaluation, he found soft tissue that had not yet been fossilized. This discovery potentially dates the dinosaur back only thousands of years compared to millions of years, which contradicts a commonly agreed upon "fact" about the age of the dinosaurs.

Armitage later published his findings in a peer-review article, Acta Histochemica. Shortly after, he lost his job due to "funding issues at the university." Armitage is suing the university claiming that they fired him due to his religious views. The lawsuit is reportedly still pending.
